Troopa for Mac

Troopa runs on a Mac with Apple silicon or an Intel processor, on macOS 14.4 or later. Download the disk image for your Mac, drag Troopa into Applications, and allow the microphone, system audio and Accessibility when it asks: that is how it hears the whole call and knows who is speaking.

From then on it waits in the menu bar, and when Teams, Zoom or a browser picks up the microphone for a call, it asks whether to listen in.

Last checked against the app on 22 October 2026.

Which Mac do I have? Open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac. If it shows a chip, such as Apple M1, choose Apple silicon. If it shows an Intel processor, choose Intel. Troopa needs macOS 14.4 or later, which the same window shows.

Install it in three steps

  1. Step 1: Drag Troopa into Applications

Open the .dmg file from your Downloads folder, then drag Troopa onto the Applications folder in the window that opens.

  2. Step 2: Open Troopa

Open Troopa from Applications. The first time, macOS asks whether to open an app from the internet: Troopa is notarised by Apple, so choose Open.

  3. Step 3: Sign in and allow access

Sign in, or create your account. Then allow the microphone, system audio and Accessibility when Troopa asks, so it hears the whole call and knows who is speaking.

What Troopa asks your Mac for, and why

macOS asks you about each of these once, and you can change your mind in System Settings, under Privacy & Security.

  • Microphone: your side of the call.
  • System audio: everybody else on the call, as your Mac plays it. Troopa needs macOS 14.4 or later for this.
  • Accessibility: the names the meeting app shows for whoever is speaking, so each line of the transcript says who said it.
  • Screen Recording, if you allow it: what is shared in the meeting window, so Troopa can answer questions about a slide or a document. Troopa keeps a note of what was shown, never the picture.

Keeping Troopa up to date, and removing it

Troopa tells you when a new version is ready and installs it when you choose, or the next time it quits. It never restarts itself while it is listening to a call.

To remove it, quit Troopa and move it from Applications to the Bin. Your meetings and notes are kept in your account, not in the app, so nothing is lost.

Questions

Does Troopa run on macOS Sonoma or Ventura?

On Sonoma from version 14.4, and on the versions of macOS after it. Not on Ventura or earlier: Troopa needs macOS 14.4 to hear the other people on the call.

Is the download safe to open?

Yes. It is signed with Tellme AI Limited’s Apple developer certificate and notarised by Apple, which means Apple has checked it for malicious software, and macOS checks both before it opens.

Can I record a call without Screen Recording turned on?

Yes. Screen Recording only lets Troopa read what is shared in the meeting window. Without it Troopa still hears the call, names the speakers and writes the notes; it just cannot answer questions about what was on screen.

Does Troopa run on an iPhone or iPad?

No. There is no Troopa for iPhone or iPad: it runs on the Mac itself, where it can hear the call and read who is speaking.
